I am Dave Voss, the founder of Keep It Spinnin Entertainment, and this is the story of how a kid who loved music became Delaware's go-to wedding DJ and Master of Ceremonies.

How It All Started

I have been the music person at every gathering for as long as I can remember. Family reunions, friend group hangouts, birthday parties — if there was a speaker to be managed, I was the one managing it. What started as a natural instinct for reading a room and curating a vibe eventually became something more deliberate.

In 2010, I launched Keep It Spinnin Entertainment out of Frederica, Delaware, with a simple philosophy: every client deserves a fully customized experience. No cookie-cutter playlists. No one-size-fits-all packages. Just professional, attentive service tailored to the couple, the crowd, and the moment. I did not want to be the DJ who shows up, plays a generic list, and goes home. I wanted to be the DJ who remembers your first dance song five years later — because I was the one who helped you choose it.

From Local Parties to 1,000+ Events

The early years were about investing in gear and building a reputation one event at a time. I spent more than I earned on professional equipment, studied sound engineering on the side, and said yes to every event I could — backyard birthdays, school dances, community gatherings, and eventually weddings.

Word spread. A couple from Dover booked me for their wedding, and their photographer referred me to two more couples. Those couples referred me to their friends. Within five years, I was performing at 80+ events per year across Kent, Sussex, and New Castle Counties. Today, after 15 years and over 1,000 events, Keep It Spinnin Entertainment handles weddings, corporate galas, milestone birthdays, proms, and community celebrations across all of Delaware — and the philosophy has never changed: your night is about you, not me.

More Than a DJ — A Master of Ceremonies

What sets Keep It Spinnin apart is that I serve as both DJ and Master of Ceremonies in one. That combination is rarer than you might think. Being a great MC requires public speaking comfort, emotional intelligence, and the ability to read a room — to know when to bring energy, when to pull back, and how to make announcements that feel warm and genuine rather than stiff and rehearsed.

I handle bridal party introductions, coordinate with photographers and videographers to make sure every key moment is captured, manage toasts and program cues, and keep the entire evening flowing on schedule — all without a separate emcee. Couples consistently tell me the MC work is what made their night feel polished and effortless. That feedback means more to me than any five-star review.

The Keep It Spinnin Philosophy

Every event I take on is built around three principles:

• Preparation over improvisation. I meet with every couple before their wedding. We build your timeline, your must-play list, your do-not-play list, and every key moment together. The improvisation happens on the night — but the foundation is built in advance.
• Reading the room over sticking to the list. A pre-set playlist is a starting point, not a contract. If the room tells me something different is working, I follow the room. That instinct is what 1,000+ events teaches you.
• Your night, not my showcase. I am not the kind of DJ who needs to be the center of attention. My job is to make you the center of attention, to keep your guests energized, and to handle every detail so you can actually enjoy your wedding.
